The Peekaboobirdie Story

Hello, my name is Roxanne Krohn, and I make these beautiful birdhouses from reclaimed materials.

As a skilled woodworker, my stock pile of scraps and gems of wood accumulated and grew. I started making birdhouses for myself and family, digging through my scrap wood pile. Using found objects I'd thrifted or saved, household items, building materials that weren't useful for other projects, the materials are vastly different in each house. Their shape and style materials makes each house unique. Bringing them all together to build a one of a kind birdhouse evolved naturally, and my shop was born.

Most of the materials are sourced local to my West Michigan home. Other materials I find in my travels with my husband in our fifth wheel, from around Michigan and other places in the continental United States. With an eye for salvage and saving pieces other would discard, I love the challenge of making them come alive again.

The diameter of the holes are species specific, so be sure to know what kind of birds live in your area to be sure your birdhouse doesn't sit vacant. Each listing of birdhouse will mention the diameter of the hole. Know your local species to ensure they will use the house.

As a Michigander, I recommend bringing them in during harsh winter months and resealing the exterior as necessary. Warmer climates may not need to do this if you have gentler weather. You may reseal them using exterior clear sealer as needed.

Since these are so detailed, I can only create 20-30 houses a year. Every house I create is so very special to me, and I'm so excited to share my work with you all.
